The story of MESO

Where it all began

A journey through time and scent, from Mesopotamia to Sarajevo.

Chapter one

The land between the rivers

Every story has a beginning, and ours goes back thousands of years, to the birthplace of perfume. Long ago, in the heart of an ancient land where the rivers met the earth, there was a place unlike any other: Mesopotamia. It was where the world’s first wonders were born, where creativity and invention thrived, and where people discovered the magic of scent.

People back then believed that every fragrance carried the whispers of memories. That a scent could connect them to moments long gone and to dreams still to come. From that belief came the first perfumes, made from the purest elements of nature, each one carrying a small piece of the ancient world.

Did you know?A clay tablet from Mesopotamia, more than 3,000 years old, records the name of a woman who made perfume for the royal palace: Tapputi. She is the first perfumer in history whose name we know.

Chapter two

Scent on the road

Along the great Mesopotamian trade routes, travellers carried small vials of precious oils. Fragrances infused with spices, rare flowers and resins. These scents were more than luxuries. They were reminders of home, of loved ones left behind, of moments they longed to live again.

“A single breath could carry them across time, bringing back feelings as vivid as the day they were made.”

That is the bond between scent and memory, and it has never changed. Like those ancient travellers, we believe fragrance is a gateway to emotion: a way to capture what can’t be held, and to make it last.

Chapter three

The road to Sarajevo

Caravans moved from city to city, from Aleppo to Istanbul, where East meets West. There, scents changed hands, languages and names, and the roads carried them on across the Balkans.

Those roads reached Sarajevo too, ending at the old inns of Baščaršija, where traders rested with their goods after a long journey. A city that has always known how to welcome a traveller, and how to remember a scent.

Chapter four

MESO, today

MESO takes its name from Mesopotamia and is a tribute to that great history. But we’re not only looking back. We take that ancient magic and weave it into something for today: a scent that isn’t bound by time, but rises above it.

Our perfumes are not just about how something smells. They are about where a scent can take you: to a place, a moment, a memory, even a dream. A bridge between past, present and future, just like the ancient land of Mesopotamia itself. Whether it’s your first perfume or you’ve lived a lifetime of memories tied to fragrance, MESO is for you.

“The world is full of stories, and every moment, every memory, deserves a scent that speaks of who you are and where you come from.”

Invisible to the eye.
Unforgettable to the soul.

Thank you for discovering MESO. We’ll meet again on this journey, through scent, memory and the moments still to come.
